Biography

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Iván Solomonoff’s musical journey reflects a rich tapestry of cultural influences, rooted in his Ukrainian, Italian, and Spanish heritage. From a tender age of four, Ivan, son of the distinguished opera singer Mario Solomonoff, embarked on his musical odyssey, nurturing his talent and passion.

During his early formative years, Iván honed his craft at the National Conservatory of Music, and his insatiable curiosity led him to seek guidance from the esteemed Inés Gómez Carrillo, whose mentorship further fueled his musical prowess.

While classical music was his foundation, Iván’s youth was also marked by an eclectic blend of influences, including the progressive rock keyboard virtuosos Keith Emerson, Kevin Moore, Jordan Rudess, and Rick van der Linden.

In 2007, Iván took a bold step, venturing to New York City, where he clinched the first prize at the Google NYC Talent Show with a piano improvisation.

At the age of 26, he found a new home in Barcelona, Spain, where he undertook the completion of his classical music studies at the Barcelona Music Conservatory. His dedication culminated in a performance at the graduation’s honor concert, accompanied by the coveted first prize in Music Composition.

In 2016, Iván’s vision materialized in the birth of Tangel Trio, a groundbreaking fusion of Argentinian tango and progressive rock influences. Their inaugural album took them onto the global stage, embarking on a whirlwind tour through Argentina, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan, and Russia in 2017.

With the release of ‘Piano Tango,’ an album featuring piano adaptations and arrangements of beloved tango classics, Iván ventured into solo performances, from local jazz bars to international festivals and collaborations with foreign musicians. A remarkable series of over 30 concerts across the globe, including Russia, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and his native Argentina, continue to showcase his dedication and passion for music.
