About Andrey Kolyasnikov and Fantango

It was in the second half of July, while I was preparing my program for the Pretrojazz festival, that I got contacted by a person named Andrey Kolyasnikov, suggesting preparing a concert program together with his orquesta “Fantango”.

Andrey is director and conductor at the Ural State Conservatory “Mussorgsky”, head of the symphonic orchestra at the Ural College of Music and conductor at the Sverdlovsk School of Music “Tchaikovsky”. In addition, and for my very surprise, he plays the Bandoneon..

Andrey lives in the city of Ekaterinburg where he directs the well known ensamble group “Fantango” with whom he performed at the stage of numerous philharmonic halls and with whom achieved the first prize at the International Competition “52. Internationaler Akkordeonwettbewerb” in Klingenthal (Germany).

I’m really looking forward getting to know them tomorrow at our rehearsal (only 1 day before our concert!), for preparing a program of about 18 songs in piano solo, Fantango, and Fantango + me formats.

The concert will be held at the most prestigious Jazz bar in the Urals: the EverJazz, where thanks to the efforts of my friend Ilya we had the chance to perform with Tangel Trio last year and record our first full concert DVD! It will be a pleasure to meet with such great staff once again!
